Hawk storms to his first victory!

Last night saw Storming Hawk register his first win for his syndicate members in an A2 event at Nottingham. Coming away slowly Storming Hawk trialed the field around the first bend but out of the second bend started to show his pace down the back straight and moved into a handy position going in to the third bend. Rounding bends 3 and 4 he really started to accelerate and quickly moved in to second place in the home straight before passing Trap 3 and going on to win comfortably in the end by 2 3/4 lengths.

All our syndicate members were highly delighted with his win particularly as 500M is likely to prove short enough for this young dog and we are all looking forward to the coming months and hopefully one or two more wins before he moves up in trip at some point next year.

Storming Hawk missed the break in Monday's Autumn Puppy Cup Final at Nottingham over the 500M distance and had it all on to win from there on in. Turning the first bend in last position he had a mountain to climb but again showed pace throughout the race and ran on well. Evidence of his first few races suggests that he will probably be suited by further in time but he has an opportunity on Monday evening (November 1st) again at Nottingham to bag his first win over the 500M distance.

Jester's Impact aims to make it another win tonight at Monmore after last weeks impressive success. Taking another step up the grading ladder tonight Jester run's from Trap 4 in the 9.17pm at the Wolverhampton track.

Hawk's debut brought forward!

Storming Hawk's racing debut was supposed to be on Monday in the 480M puppy open at Nottingham, however he now runs tonight from Trap 4 in the 8.22pm which is a very strong A2 contest at Nottingham. Obviously this will be his first experience running against 5 other dogs and this will be the fourth different trap location he will have run out of in 4 visits to the track, but he does seem to take everything in his stride so we are hopeful he can do himself justice tonight.

Storming Hawk is to be entered to run at Nottingham next Monday and if accepted is likely to make his racing debut in the 480M Stadium Bookmakers Puppy Trophy.

His recent trial over the 500M trip in which he clocked 30.57 indicated that he would be heading straight for the top grade at the Colwick Park circuit and after considering the options his trainer Paul Sallis has opted for him to take on his own age group in this one off puppy race, syndicate members are all now becoming extremely excited and hopefully next Monday will see the real start of what we hope to be a superb adventure with this promising young dog.

Jester makes it 2 from 4 at Monmore

Jesters Impact has won again tonight at Monmore making it 2 wins from 4 starts for Kirstie and Dave. He faced a double upgrade after his impressive debut success in A8 and was sent off the 5/2 Co Fav of 3 for this A6 contest tonight. Jester stayed on well after some early trouble tonight to come from behind Trap 3 and go on and win with a length to spare in a decent time of 29.04. This young dog is going in the right direction and seems to be liking it around the Wolverhampton track since his move from Yarmouth and is looking like a very good addition to our ranks here at Category 1 Greyhounds.

Storming Hawk please's in second trial

Storming Hawk trialed at Nottingham prior to racing last night and clocked a very useful 30.57 (+20 = Calc 30.77) in only his second ever run over the tough four bend trip.

This is a very encouraging effort and one which will no doubt put him striaght in to the top grade at the Colwick Park track, but you have to start somewhere I suppose and if its in A1 at Nottingham then that is hardly a bad place when all is said and done, it is certainly making it very exciting for all our syndicate members who joined in May and June of last year when Storming Hawk was little more than 12 weeks old.

Storming Hawk trials well

Tonight Storming Hawk had his first trial over the 500M trip at Nottingham and clocked a very respectable 31.20 on his first look over the standard distance at Colwick Park. We are very pleased with this as is his trainer Paul Sallis and we look forward to watching his progress in the coming months.

Earlier today Jesters Impact also ran with credit and was beaten less than 2 lengths in his race at Monmore Green after finding trouble at the third bend.

Texas Revenge had a trial before racing and is now ready to rejoin Jester on the racetrack, whilst the third Amigo (Martti) is having a short break and should be racing again in the next two to three weeks.

Jesters Impact runs at Monmore today in the A6 contest at 3.38pm. It looks a tough race to call and he is still up two grades for his debut win and there is a bit of pace on his inside as well as having the coffin box (Trap 4) to overcome, but the Racing Post pick him and he gets a top rating of 100, so you can pay your money and you can take your chance if you agree with the RP and you think he can win, come on Jester!

Hawk to have his first test flight

Storming Hawk will go in to the unknown on Friday and have the first official trial of his life at Nottingham. Hopefully he will show up well, but obviously the main thing is he comes away, chases hard and comes back safe and well, roll on Friday!

Jester makes an Impact

Jesters Impact made his debut for Category 1 Greyhounds at Monmore on Thursday evening and created an immediate impact winning by 4 lengths in his first outing at the Wolverhampton circuit.

Running out of Trap 4, Jester came away fairly well but was in two minds round the first two bends about where he wanted to be before darting up the rail to lead going down the back straight. He was still clear coming out of the final bend and stayed on fairly well to record a very pleasing first win for us here at Category 1 Greyhounds.

His win took us all by surprise a little as did his price of 2/1F when looking at the official result, but the main thing was he ran well and came home safe and sound. Kirsty and Dave were obviously delighted if not a little surprised at his performance but he is is a young dog and he may have improved for the switch from Yarmouth to the bigger running track of Monmore, we will just see how he goes in his next few races but the initial signs look positive and we hope Jester is going to be another good addition for Kirstie and Dave.

Storming Hawk is due to have his first trial at Nottingham for Paul Sallis and I know members of this syndicate are getting very excited. Storming Hawk's litter sister (Hope and Destiny) had the first race of her career on Saturday evening at Hove, she graded in A5 and put in a very encouraging performance to finish second, which is some achievement for a pup so young and inexperienced, hopefully Storming Hawk can match or better his little sister's performance when he has his first race.

Chief in the wars!

After another blistering start from the traps in his latest race Big Chief did'nt seem to show the pace he has down the back striaght at Monmore and all did not look well. It was confirmed after the race that he has picked up an injury that will keep him off the track for around a month, obviously this is the reason for his below par performance but fortunately he will be back on the track in the near future.

Storming Hawk has settled in well for Paul Sallis and will be brought along as Paul see's fit given his age and size.

Advantage Martti is due a return to the card for Kirsty and Dave in the near future. Martti has been very consistent for us and deserves a mention for his efforts week in and week out. He is a great little dog who is a joy to own and is still improving as each month passes by, rarely does he fail to make the first three in his races and is as honest and hard running as any dog you could wish to own, keep up the good work Martti !

Silver and Bronze

Both Big Chief and Advantage Martti turned in very good performances on Thursday night finishing second (beaten a neck) and third (beaten a length) respectively.

Advantage Martti was first up and looking to have no chance down the back he came from 6 lengths off the pace to not quite get there in time and lose with only a length, again running his race in an honest and genuine fashion.

Big Chief on the other hand absolutely flew out of the traps and comfortably clocked the fastest sectional of the night, it looked as though Charlie was going to notch up his first win but it was not to be with him leading everywhere except on the line and only being denied in a photo finish.

After a debut second in graded company Big Chief aims to go one better tonight at 9.45pm in the A3 'Bank's Bitter Stakes' at Monmore, drawn in Trap 6 Charlie will need to be at his best to win but his first sorte in graded company was encouraging and hopefully tonight he can put his best paw forward out of the traps and put in a good performance.

Advantage Martti also runs on tonights card and he has been running consistently well over the last few months for Kirstie and Dave who have done a fantastic job with him. Genuine and honest as the day is long Martti will no doubt run his race again tonight and if he can come away well and hold his place around the first two bends he will have every opportunity of gaining another win.

Storming Hawk has finished his schooling over in Ireland and Marie is very pleased with how he has progressed throughout the time she has had him, we are now making arrangements for him to come over to England and start his racing career and will keep you all posted on his progress

Advantage Johnny is now the proud father of eight pups after his first litter were born here in the UK earlier this week to Icemaid Lilley.

Lance says that Lilley and her litter of 5 Dogs and 3 Bitches are doing well and all of them are a really good size, we would like to wish Lance and Pam all the best for the future with this litter and if any of them turn out to be as good as their mother or father then I am sure Lance and Pam will be delighted
